Since 2013, our national award-winning youth theater has been a creative home for young performing artists to explore their talents and discover what they're capable of.

Middle and high school students participate in week-long summer camps - a mixed performing arts curriculum covering acting, improv, playwriting, devising, clowning, and Shakespeare studies. Whether your student is an experienced performer or a complete beginner, every week is taught by working theatre professionals in a small-group setting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can enroll? +
Summer Conservatory is open to students ages 12—18. All experience levels are welcome — no prior theatre training is needed.
Can my student attend just one week? +
Yes. Enrollment is flexible — students can attend one week, a few, or all seven. Each week is its own complete, standalone workshop.
What does a typical day look like? +
Sessions run Monday through Thursday, 10am—3pm, with a midday lunch break. The week culminates in a student showcase on Thursday afternoon, open to families.
What should students bring each day? +
Comfortable clothing you can move in, a water bottle, and something to write with. Students should also bring lunch or money for lunch — there are several options within a short walk.
What happens during lunch? +
There is a midday lunch break. Students may leave the building during this time with a signed parental waiver on file.
What is the refund and cancellation policy? +
Cancellations made 14 or more days before your registered week are eligible for a full refund. For cancellations within 14 days, please contact youth@firebird.nyc — we'll work with you. No-shows are non-refundable.
Is financial assistance available? +
While we don't want tuition to be a barrier for any family, we are a small indie organization, so our scholarship options are limited.
Contact youth@firebird.nyc to discuss pricing assistance options.
