Make a 90-Second Movie
The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is a national contest where young filmmakers tell the entire story of a Newbery Medal–winning book in about 90 seconds. Weird twists are encouraged. Think Charlotte’s Web as a horror movie, or Holes in Lego stop-motion.
Firebird Youth Theater is running a short, hands-on workshop at Brooklyn Apple Academy this fall, Friday afternoons. Pick a book, adapt it into a script, then shoot and edit a short film together, start to finish. The group will take a trip together to see the finished films at the festival’s NYC screening in February.
